I dealt with MSFT Pro-Support who ultimately confirmed this to be a bug and fixed it, but the damage was already done when I lost all my files. Prior to the bug, if the NTFS volume was not compressed, everything was fine, but once the volume on which the SkyDrive Sync folder sat was compressed, the corruption would occur once the files synchronized.
